Silas crawlingMy people had visitors recently, and they brought this strange little guy with them. At first I wasn’t sure what he could be. Sometimes he would crawl across the floor, and I thought he might be a small dog. One of those came to visit once, and we had a wild time playing together. But every time I’d run up to this creature and bat at him to get him to play, my people would yell at me or push me away. So what was I supposed to do with him?Fiona with toy truck

He did have some interesting toys. I wanted to play with that truck he had, but nobody would let me chew on it. Isn’t that what toys are for? And the toy basket looked perfect for hiding in. I pushed the toys out of it and tried to climb in, but I didn’t fit very well. My humans laughed at me. When I tried to climb into the little toy bag he brought with him, they laughed even more. It’s not my fault I couldn’t get more than my front end in. I tried scratching at the bottom to make it bigger, but it didn’t work.

Silas and FionaI finally decided he must be a very little human. I lay down next to him and watched. Cats are curious, you know. I just had to figure him out. He liked to touch me, but sometimes he forgot to be gentle—even though the big people kept reminding him. Sometimes he got smelly. Then the big people would take him away and bring him back smelling good again. Very strange.Silas crying with Fiona

He wasn’t such a bad little guy, I guess. I think he would have played with me more if the big people hadn’t kept interfering. Still, he was restless. Did I mention he wasn’t always gentle? And he could get very noisy at times. When it got to be too much for me, I just jumped up to a place where he couldn’t reach me and took a nap. Studying humans can wear a cat out.
